What is Hypnotherapy
 Hypnotherapy
is a powerful, effective therapy that will enable you to communicate
with your subconscious mind. This part of your mind contains all of
your experiences and memories, and has the resources to provide solutions
to your problems, whether physical, emotional or mental.
Hypnotherapy has been practised since ancient times and with the recognition
of its highly efficient and gentle approach has again become a therapy
of choice for many people.
Hypnosis is not a state of sleep but an altered state of awareness in
which you are in control and aware of what is happening. Whilst in this
state you can access the deepest regions of your mind, free yourself
of your problems and gain the greatest benefit.
Hypnotherapy
helps you to resolve your problems by enabling you to connect your thoughts
and feelings, learn about yourself and gain a new, more beneficial perspective
on life.

Hypnotherapy - Frequently Asked Questions:
Can anyone be hypnotised?
In the clinical setting most people who want
to be hypnotised can be hypnotised.
Could I remain in trance and not come out
of it?
No, trance is a natural state and if you were
left in trance by the therapist or the therapist were to leave,
you would either come out of it in your own time or drift off to
sleep and awaken naturally.
Will I say or do something that I don't want
to when I'm hypnotised?
No, the conscious mind is always aware of
what you are experiencing while you are hypnotised and has the ability
to comment, censor or criticise, so you always remain in control.
The aim of hypnotherapy is to benefit you, the client, and at no
time would you be required to say or do something that you were
not comfortable with.
Will I be under the control of the hypnotherapist?
No, this is impossible, you will always be
in control. The aim of hypnotherapy is for you and your therapist
to work together towards a positive outcome. If you were to feel
that you were losing control, your resistance to the therapy may
increase and the benefits would be reduced. It is the role of the
therapist to be sensitive to your needs, ensuring that you feel
safe and secure at all times.
Is being hypnotised the same as being asleep?
No, the hypnotic state of trance is quite
different to sleep. When you are asleep you are unaware of what
is going on around you, while in trance you can hear what the therapist
says, as well as extraneous noises, whilst remaining relaxed and
receptive.
How long does hypnotherapy take?
Hypnotherapy focuses on creating positive lasting
changes. Each person is an individual, making it difficult to determine
how many sessions are required. However, the therapist will suggest
the number of sessions as a guide, and you and your therapist will
monitor your progress and make adjustments as needed.
